A 35 million dollar lawsuit has been filed against the Bluewater School Board by the parents of four students in the system.
It alleges bullying involving both other students, and teachers at several schools over the last five years.
That bullying allegedly involves verbal and physical abuse and one case involve sexual assault between two students.
Lawyer Sandra Zisckind says the multi-million dollar suit filed in August alleges board officials ignored parents concerns about abuse, neglected to monitor the situations or discipline those responsible.
Zisckind declined to name the schools involved, saying it is really a board issue since the schools fall under the boards’ jurisdiction.
One incident alleges a student was repremanded in front of her classmates and had her face pushed into a water fountain which broke a tooth.
The Toronto lawyer handling the case says it will likely be 6 to 8 months before they get to the discovery phase of the lawsuit where she can question board officials.
The whole case could drag on for 2 to 3 years.
