Students and Staff at West Hill Secondary School in Owen Sound will have their own Terry Fox run today.
The run is a nation wide event which promotes cancer awareness and encourages students to raise money to support cancer research.
A bus will take the students and staff to Oliphant and they will start the run at 9 AM — and they will take the parkway into Sauble Beach.
They will follow Highway 6 into Hepworth, through Shallow Lake, and finally come to finish in Owen Sound at the high school.
Upon reaching West Hill — the students and teachers will run one lap of the track to make the total distance run a full 42 kilometre marathon.
There will be approximately 20 participants — including Vice Principal Lucy Hillts.
Hillts will be doing half of the marathon while Audrey Lee — another teacher at the school — will run the full 42 kilometres.
The students will run it as a relay with each leg of the race least 3 kilometres long.
The OPP from both Wiarton and Chatsworth — as well as the Owen Sound Police — will escort the runners the entire way.
