Not much demand for a used airport out there.
That is what Owen Sound discovered when it put of feelers to see if there was anyone who wanted to purchase the Billy Bishop Regional Airport.
Operations Director John Johnston says they did received one proposal to co manage and operate the facility with the city.
He says at the moment those discussion are in the very preliminary stage but is hopeful that by the end of the year these talks could be more substantial.
Johnston says since no one wants to purchase the facility, Council feels the best next option is having a management group run the airport, and the city retain ownership.
He says if they cant reach an agreement with this company, then they will continue to operate the facility.
Johnston says the Airport building is still in pretty good shape as is the runway and any major repair work is many years down the road.
Johnston says nothing is critical at the moment and there is no major capital work planned for the airport for the next little while.
He says while fuel sales are down somewhat, there remains quite a bit of activity at the airport with medivac flights and visits by the Military plus the numerous private pilots who make use of the facility.
