Good news for seniors in the Hanover area — the Hanover and District Hospital will once again offer psycho-geriatric clinics.
Starting in October — Doctor Brendan Mulroy from Grey Bruce Health Services will have psycho-geriatric clinics at the Hanover Hospital once every month.
These clinics will assess the mental and physical capacity of elderly patients — particularly those who show signs of dementia or aggressive behaviour.
Vice President of Patient Care Services Reta Sproule says the clinics provide a vital tool in improving the quality of life for elderly patients.
Everything from medications to behaviour will be assessed in these clinics.
The Hanover Hospital has been without a psycho-geriatric clinic for three years now ever since Doctor McDougall retired.
Local patients had to travel to Owen Sound for assessments and endure long waiting lists.
Sproule says the new clinic will also reduce wait times and patients will be able to get the help they need locally.
