Many people every year are diagnosed with autism — both young and old.
But the membership of the Grey Bruce Chapter of Autism Ontario is only standing at 17.
Paul Eichhorn — VIce President of the local chapter — is hoping people realize the chapter is there and is ready to help.
Eichhorn says this is unbelievable as hundreds of family in this regions are affected by autism.
He adds the region is large — from Tobermory to Kincardine — and he wants the message to get out in the school – hospitals and communities in general that Autism Ontario is a larger provincial body.
What that means Eichhorn explains is there are links to more groups provincewide to provide a wealth of information.
Eichhorn says with hopes of there membership going it it means that there will be a possibility of getting more programs started – especially in the schools for children.
The chapter is holding their annual general meeting today at 7 PM at the Community Living Hanover and Area in Hanover.
Eichhorn says the event is open to everyone and he hopes many will turn out to find out more on the chapter and to see what they are hoping to accomplish in the coming year.
