Hanover could soon have its own Community Fund to support not for profit organizations within town.
This Endowment Fund would be supported through individual donations and formed under the guidance of the Community Foundation Grey Bruce.
Donations made to this fund would be held in perpetuity and the interest earned would be used to fund local charitable organizations.
Community Foundation Executive Director Roberta Brignell strongly encourages Hanover to take advantage of this opportunity.
She says Community Foundation Grey Bruce is offering grants up to twenty-thousand dollars under a matching grant program.
For every two dollars raised, the Community Foundation will match one dollar, up to a maximum of twenty-thousand dollars in a year.
Brignell says the program provides great support to charitable organizations during these lean times of municipal and government funding grants.
She adds a Hanover Fund Management Committee will need to be created consisting of eight to ten residents within the community that represent a broad range of the population.
It will be this committee that will determine what not for profit groups will receive funding.
Council members are leaving the final decision on the matter to the newly elected Hanover Council.
