If you love historic buildings and unique architecture, then you won’t want to miss the Walkerton and District Doors Open event.
From 10 AM until 4 PM today — the public will have a chance to take self-guided tours through a number of historical buildings, residential homes and structures of significance.
Fifteen of the Seventeen stops involve historical structures and the other two stops include the Walkerton Clean Water Centre and the Walkerton Heritage Garden.
Councillor Tim Mancell says it’s a rare opportunity to visit beautiful homes and buildings.
There is no cost and self-guide tour books listing the participating locations can be picked up at any of the participating sites as well as the Walkerton Jubilee Hall, the municipal office and local libraries.
Mancell says Brockton is fortunate to have so many historic homes and building that have been lovingly cared for and preserved over the years.
He says the self-guided tours are sure to create a greater appreciation of these older buildings and a realization of what a treasure they are.
The tour includes stops at the Victoria Jubilee Hall, some churches, homes, taverns, and old school house to name a few.
All seventeen participating sites span 150 years, from the 1860 Walker House to the 2010 Walkerton Clean Water Centre.
