Before you grab a stone and skip it across the waters of Grey and Bruce — stop and take a look for you are holding a piece of history.
A tour presented by the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre is going on tomorrow called “Bruce County Rocks”.
Tour Guide Clarke Birchard says the formation of rock in Bruce County is similar to that all along the Niagara escarpment and every piece tells a tale.
Birchard says Bruce has become a destination for geology as it is a compact area dealing with many different varieties of geology and rock formations.
Bruce falls just short of the Canadian Shield which is two and a half billion years old or older.
The tour on Saturday will deal with about 20 viewing points for different formations – about half a dozen of them will actually have participants walking to the formation.
But first – Birchard says participants will see a slide presentation at the museum because sometimes the formations that are seen on the tour are not in chronological order.
The tour runs from the museum and up to Lion’s Head.
