A champion in the fight for a national water protection policy is on the Bruce Peninsula this week.
Maude Barlow — the Chair of the Council of Canadians — will be the keynote speaker at the Footprints Environmental Conference at Bruce Peninsula District Secondary.
Barlow will talk with students at the Celtic camp south of Stokes Bay Friday afternoon .
Her Topic is “Why Drinking Bottled Water is Uncool.”
Then on Saturday, she will talk about the possible effects on the global water crisis and the looming battle over water.
Barlow will be speaking at the Peninsula Shores District school in Wiarton at 2 PM.
She recently spent a year as Global Water Advisor to the President of the United Nations General Assembly.
Maude Barlow has worked for more than 25 years as an activist to protect Canadian water.
The fund-raiser event is hosted by the Bruce Peninsula Environment Group and the cost for a ticket is $25.
