The big vote in the House of Commons on the long-gun registry is today, and Bayshore Broadcasting News has wrapped up it’s survey on-line.
The final numbers show 2,030 votes in favour of scrapping the registry or 90 per cent.
And 237 votes in favour of keeping the program, which is 10 per cent of those who filled out the survey.
Bruce Grey Owen Sound MP Larry Miller admits it will be a very close vote and he expects the Conservatives will lose it, unless some Liberals decide to sit out the vote today.
As far as his Riding Association trying to influence the Bayshore Broadcasting News poll — by emailing it’s members and asking them to vote to dump the registry — Miller says he isn’t aware of it.
However, the Conservative MP claims he got a copy of an email from the Liberals in the area which urged it’s members to vote on-line to save the registry.
After the Tory email went out, Bayshore Broadcasting News noticed some 15 hundred votes were cast over a five day period, almost all in favour of killing the program.
In our poll — many people claim the registry is a waste of money and hurts farmers and hunters.
One person says “You treat the population like children, then they will behave as children.”
Another says “Criminals don’t use long guns on the street they use hand guns.”
