MPP Bill Murdoch’s decision not to run in the next Provincial Election has generated a lot of interest in the race to replace him.
In fact, the number of people joining the party so they can vote at next months nomination meeting have soared by more than 13 hundred.
PC Riding Association President Sam Luckhardt says they are surprised at the interest people are showing in the race and there is certainly no voter apathy in this riding.
Before Murdoch’s announcement, the party membership stood at about 200.
Luckhardt says all four candidates for the nomination have been actively selling party memberships and he is hoping a vast majority of them will be able to make to the nomination meeting Oct. 6th in Tara.
He says besides interest in the race, many new members are also upset with what the Liberal Government has been doing at Queens Park and want a say in choosing the person they want at the Legislature.
There are four people in the race to replace the controversial MPP.
Mark Wunderlich is a South Bruce Peninsula Councillor, Dan Sullivan is Deputy Mayor of West Grey, Bill Walker is a Bruce Power employee and Michael Schmidt, a Durham area farmer.
