A review is underway by an independant committee, to see whether the Mayor of Owen Sound and city councillors should get a raise.
Acting city clerk Lois O’Neill says this is standard practice in many municipalities in Ontario.
The committee was set up over the summer and is expected to report back to council sometime this fall.
No changes will happen until after the municipal vote October 25th.
Currently, Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners receives close to 31 thousand dollars plus 47 hundred dollars in per diem payments for attending meetings.
Owen Sound councillors get a base pay of under 12 thousand dollars plus up to 9 thousand dollars in per diem payments.
