Walkerton is going to have to do without one of its family physicians for a year.
Doctor Shazia Ambreen has taken a one year leave from her practice to take an anaesthesiologist course in Toronto.
Councillor Tim Mancell says it’s a small price to pay in return for a much needed second anaesthesiologist at the Walkerton hospital.
Mancell feels Doctor Ambreen’s new skills will be a great asset to the Hospital.
In the meantime, three local doctors have stepped forward to fill the gap left in Ambreen’s absence.
Doctors Susan and Paul McArthur as well as Doctor Ziad Al Qaseer are sharing Doctor Ambreen’s patient load.
