45 thousand dollars came in during this year’s Relay for Life event in Owen Sound.
Close to 300 people took part in the 12 hour fundraiser at Harrison Park.
Co-ordinator Brenda O’Neil says over the seven years the event has been running in the Scenic City, they have raised a total of 605-thousand dollars.
Last year, 54 thousand dollars came in — and in 2008 the Relay for Life raised 81 thousand dollars in Owen Sound.
All the money raised goes to cancer research as well as local cancer programs.
O’Neil says because of construction of the new Regional Rec Centre at Victoria Park, they moved the event to Harrison Park.
She says the atmosphere was great and they’ll look at holding next year’s Relay in Harrison Park again.
