The Salvation Army is once again providing their Home-Heating Program to residents of the Bruce Peninsula.
Captain Mary Millar tells Bayshore Broadcasting News they help many families who are unable to afford to heat their homes in the winter.
Millar notes the demand is on the rise.
This year, 80 to 100 Bruce Peninsula families are expected to come to the Salvation Army to help them heat their homes.
Millar says last year, over nine thousand dollars were given to families across the Bruce Peninsula to help them with their heating needs.
But Millar notes they need help from community to fund the program.
The 5th annual Salvation Army Heat Golf Tournament is one of many ways that the Salvation Army helps to offset the cost of the program.
It’s being held today at Northern Dunes Golf Club.
Registration is at Noon and the game begins at 1 PM.
The cost of registration is eighty dollars per golfer, which includes a roast beef dinner
Donations for the program are also being accepted at the Salvation Army in Wiarton.
