Big success is reported by the doctor recruitment committee for Saugeen Shores and Kincardine.
The joint recruitment committee works on attracting doctors to the Lake Huron shoreline, and Spokesperson James Scongack says they have landed two new doctors for the E-R department in Southampton.
The Southampton ER department has been short-staffed for some time, with an average of ten shifts per month having to be covered by Health Force Ontario because of a lack of doctors in the community.
Scongack says Doctor Robert LeBlanc and his family have agreed to re-locate to Saugeen Shores as a full-time ER physician starting in November.
Doctor LeBlanc is an experienced ER physician who has been working in Essex County, and Scongack says he will be a great addition to the current compliment of doctors in Saugeen Shores.
Meanwhile, Doctor Azadeh Malek has also agreed to re-locate to Saugeen
Shores as a full-time ER physician.
She needs however, to transfer her Doctors’ license from Manitoba, where she is currently practising.
The timing to complete this process is unknown at this stage.
Doctor Malek is looking forward to the move since her husband works at Bruce Power.
Scongack says they will continue to focus on doctor recruitment needs
for both Saugeen Shores and Kincardine.
