As the Davidson addition construction moves along, it’s time for the public fundraising portion of the project to shift into high gear.
Recently Kincardine council received a report from Fundraising chair Derek Burrows.
Burrows says over 420 thousand dollars has been raised largely through corporate sponsors.
He says next on the agenda is to go after private citizens and small businesses in the community.
Burrows says they’re going after another 300 thousand dollars with private citizens coming up with two-thirds of the tally.
He says several special fundraising events are scheduled as well, beginning next month with a skatathon.
The money will be part of the over 3.8-million dollars needed to add new facilites to the centre and upgrade existing ones.
The project needs to be finished by next March or possibly losing senior government funding.
