The municipal election race in Saugeen Shores has turned into an interesting run.
The top two spots in Saugeen Shores will be decided by the electorate.
Incumbent Mayor Mike Smith is being challenged by councillor Victoria Serda.
The Deputy Mayor’s spot is up for grabs too.
Incumbent Doug Freiburger and councillor Luke Charbonneau are after the position.
Doug Gowanlock has been acclaimed to the Vice Deputy Mayor position.
There’s no election in Port Elgin Ward with incumbent Fred Schildroth and newcomer Marcel Legault being acclaimed.
In Saugeen Ward, three are vying for two seats including Taun Frosst, Cindy Cartwright and Gary R. Brown.
One candidate, Glen Smith withdrew his name.
There’s also a race in Southampton ward with Sunny Cushnie challenging the two incumbents, Diane Huber and Thead Seaman.
Voting by mail begins in early October with results posted October 25th.
