Good old fashioned police work is credited with helping to solve an arson case on Bluewater Drive in Saugeen Shores.
Back on May 15th, Saugeen Shores Fire and Police attended a blaze in Port Elgin.
The fire was started in a home under construction but severely damaged a neighbouring home as well.
Saugeen Shores police chief Dan Rivett says earlier this summer, the area was also experiencing numerous thefts from vehicles and homes.
The arrest of a man for those offences led to the recovery of numerous articles stolen in Port Elgin and Southampton.
Following multiple interviews and the collection of some physical evidence …. police believe that two men were responsible for the fire and one of those was responsible for the thefts from vehicles in the area.
A 22-year-old man from Port Elgin has been arrested and charged with possession of property obtained by crime and Break and enter and commit mischief.
A warrant is out for the arrest of a 23-year-old Toronto man, for Break and Enter, Arson, and three counts of mischief over five thousand dollars.
