There are now 11 people who want to run for Owen Sound Council.
Brent Jeffries — well known in the community for his work with arts and culture — filed his nomination papers this morning.
Jeffries feels he can bring a fresh and creative outlook to issues facing the City.
And for Jeffries, those issues include attracting new doctors and business and developing the harbourfront.
Jeffries has lived in Owen Sound for more than 20 years and is a member of Owen Sound Little Theatre and the Georgian Bay Folk Society.
He ran in the 2006 election and lost by over 400 votes.
Jeffries joins a long list of newcomers running for City Council — including Ian Boddy, Andy McCaffrey, Sharon McKeachnie, Mike Moore, Scott Greig and Jan Chamberlain.
Incumbents Bill Twaddle, Peter Lemon, David Adair and Jim McManaman are also running for re-election.
At least one-third of Owen Sound’s current nine-member council will be replaced in elections on October 25.
Councillors John Christie and Tom Pink will not run again.
Councillor Deb Haswell is one of two people challenging incumbent Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners, meaning either Haswell or Lovell Stanners will also not be back.
