The construction on the Davidson Centre addition is going to continue.
Architect Jim Strasman says it will cost 106 thousand dollars extra to beef up the foundation of the east wall of the Davidson Centre after tests show the current footings wouldn’t support the new build.
In addition Strasman asked to top up the contingency fund to 115 thousand dollars so they wouldn’t have to keep coming back to council for any other unplanned additional costs.
Council approved but councillor Ron Hewitt wasn’t buying into it.
Hewitt wondered out loud as to whether or not there were already plans for that additional contingency money.
Strasman countered time is of the essence with this project needing to be completed by next March or risk losing senior government money.
