Full day kindergarten has arrived in Huron Bruce.
Four elementary schools within Huron Bruce welcomed junior kindergarten students — some as young as 3 — for their first day on Wednesday.
Huron Bruce Liberal MPP Carol Mitchell arrived at Kincardine Township-Tiverton Public School armed with a book to read to the 17 junior kindergarten students.
At first the kids were more interested in show off their new shoes and clothes that they got for that first day in school.
Afterwards Mitchell told Bayshore Broadcasting News, that full day kindergarten will give the children the opportunity and advantage of early learning and put them on the road to future succeses.
Mitchell says published comments by Progressive Conservative Leader Tim Hudak today will only end the program as we know it.
Hudak says the government has made many errors in setting up the program and his party would adjust the program accordingly if they’re elected to power in the next election.
Mitchell senses the program would be scrapped altogether.
Besides KTTPS, programs began today at G.C Huston school in Southampton; Lucknow Central and Mildmay Carrick Central in Huron Bruce.
Well over 60 children are taking part in full day kindergarten classes.
