Fire has heavily damaged the Bayview Manor retirement home at Balmy Beach.
Flames broke out around 1 PM Sunday in the back of the building.
It houses a dozen people and all the residents and the two or three staff working at the time all of whom were evacuated safely.
Up to 40 firefighters from the Intertownship Fire Department and Owen Sound Fire Department responded to the blaze on Grey road 1, at Balmy Beach.
There is extensive interior damage to the home, although structurally it is still standing.
There are holes through the roof of the building and part of the back roof is burned off.
Flames also came through several windows at the Bayview Manor retirement home.
No word on where the residents will be housed temporarily, or what it will cost to rebuild.
