The South West LHIN is expanding their Aging at Home strategy.
The province has kicked in a total annual amount of over 27 million dollars to the South West LHIN over the last 3 years, with 10 million coming in this year.
CEO Mike Barrett of the South West LHIN explains they’ll will use this years funding to continue providing health services to local seniors from the comfort and dignity of their homes.
Barrett shares that seven new initiatives were funded this year, in addition to 28 that were funded in the previous two years.
Programs range from the Alzheimer’s society to home and community support services and many others.
The program ultimately aims to reduce Emergency Room wait times and provide more comfortable care.
Seniors will account for a larger share of population than children aged 0 to 14 by 2017.
