The pace of construction in Owen Sound continues to boom, even if you discount the work on the Regional rec centre.
Figures released by city hall show over 2 million dollars worth of work started in July compared with only 608 thousand dollars worth a year ago.
Development co-ordinator Sandra Parks says they are up in all categories with 74 permits issued this year compared with only 45 last July, and 8 new homes under construction compared to one a year ago.
So far in 2010, nearly 42 million dollars worth of construction permits have been issued, with nearly 34 million coming from the Rec Centre.
The total is actually a record for the Scenic City with still 5 months to go.
Parks says the city reduced the cost of development charges earlier this year and that has led to a boost in construction.
