The Davidson Centre addition construction in Kincardine has hit a snag.
Council was informed Wednesday that structural deficiencies have been discovered in the load-bearing capacity of the east foundation of the arena.
Kincardine CAO John DeRosenroll says engineering reports show the footings of the old arena, which are now 30 years old, will not carry the load of the planned gymnasium addition.
DeRosenroll says new costs are being processed by the contractor to correct the situation and those additional costs will be presented to council next Wednesday.
Although no figures were given, deRosenroll says there is no question it’s going to cost more for the 3.8 million dollar project.
Meanwhile, other work continues as time is a factor.
A chunk of the money has come from the federal and provincial government’s stimulus funding program which mandates that the project must be done by next March 31st.
