A Grey County man charged with murder in an incident involving a tractor has been granted bail in Ontario Superior court.
48 year old Laurie Porteus of Chatsworth Township was charged with second degree murder and attempted murder after two women where hit with a tractor July 2nd on a farm just north of Chatsworth.
A judge granted him bail and the case returns to the Ontario court of Justice September 30th.
The next step in the case will be a preliminary hearing but that could be months away.
Porteous is out on a total of 60 thousand dollars in bail, with several conditions attached including a curfew, weekly appearances before the OPP and no weapons.
Grey County OPP say one of two women hit with a tractor, 26 year old Sareena Denesiuk of the Alliston area died following the incident.
A post mortem shows she suffered multiple internal injuries.
27 year old April Smith of Chatsworth township was also injured but recovered.
Smith had a common law relationship with the accused.
