A rally held in front of city hall in Owen Sound was missing some prominent faces.
” Voices of Innocent Families in Ontario” Zane Sherwood is sponsored Wednesday’s rally which called on Queens Park to take responsibility for the province’s 53 Children’s Aid Society offices.
Organizers want Ontario’s Ombudsman Andre Marin to investigate the practices of the CAS.
In a release to Bayshore Broadcasting News — the group said Minister of Children and Youth Services Laurel Broten, Huron Bruce MPP Carol Mitchell, MPP Bill Murdoch and Owen Sound Mayor Ruth Lovell Stanners would be speaking.
Lovell Stanners told us she never once confirmed she would attend — and she called the other politicians mentioned in the release, and they too never planned to attend.
The rally is supported by other groups like Canada Court Watch.
Member Verne Beck says the province needs to investigate complaints, and claims of criminal activity and wrong doing at several CAS offices in Ontario.
He says so far the response in Owen Sound has been good.
Beck’s membership has a website www.canadacourtwatch.com that has posted – what he calls – witness testimony that prove their allegations of corruption and abuse in the Children Aid Society.
