Almost 300 Catholic students in Grey Bruce spent some of their holidays in summer school.
Co-ordinator Janey Campbell feels this year’s program was a fabulous success.
She says 288 students participated in various literacy, technology and summer adventure style camps.
Campbell says the summer camps not only warmed the students up for September — but it also helped hone the skills they need to be successful all school year long.
Some of the summer school programs involved learning in the morning and swimming, crafts and sports in the afternoon.
New this year was the technology camps. These camps were offered to students who use technology to assist them in school.
The camps provided hands on help mastering the technology they require for their school studies.
There was also WRAP camps geared towards students with severe behaviour issues.
Campbell says all of the camps incorporated technology into the lessons whether it be through iPod casting or smart boards.
She says students find the technology engaging and exciting, making it a powerful education tool.
