If you head into the children’s department at the Owen Sound Library you will see a bright green table.
The table is a one of a kind innovative design that was created by a local businessman and dad.
Nadia Danyluk is the Children and Youth Services Librarian.
She says Jeff Trask of AMSCO solid surfaces visited the library with his kids and thought of a great way to give back to the library with an invention of a sensory table.
Danyluk notes Trask teamed up with Grant Nicholson of Nicholson Design and the table was born.
Danyluk says the table is fit with engraved plates that children can touch.
Right now the table has alphabet plates, but Danyluk says with any donations they are hoping to purchase other plates such as the four seasons or numbers.
Danyluk hopes teachers and others will see the design and see how receptive children are to it and want one for themselves.
Danyluk says this is just another way of interactive literacy play for children at the library.
