Mildmay will host it’s third annual Relay for Life event tonight .
The 12-hour event takes place at Mildmay-Carrick Public School starting with the first lap at 7 PM.
Fundraising Co-ordinator Brenda O’Neill says they have about 11 teams registered this year and their fundraising goal is 40 thousand dollars.
She says they would be very happy to raise that amount in a community the size of Mildmay.
O’Neill says the event is held overnight to symbolize the fact that cancer doesn’t sleep.
If you still wish to donate, you can purchase luminaries at the event up until 8 PM.
The candles are meant to honour someone who is currently fighting cancer, beat it, or lost a battle to it.
They will be sold for five dollars each.
Teams can start setting up after 3 PM and registration opens at 5 PM.
