The Owen Sound ‘Safe Trails Networks for All’ project received important dollars from the Province.
MPP Bill Murdoch presented the project team a 50 thousand dollar cheque from the Healthy Communities Fund on Wednesday.
Director of Community Services Pam Coulter says now they can start an inventory of current trails, a trail signage strategy and a web based plan to promote the city’s trails.
Coulter says interpretive signage will ensure that all users, regardless of their ability, are able to ensure a safe and accessible network of trails.
Coulter thinks the project team will be able to leverage the city spending into the provincial dollars without relying heavily on taxpayer dollars.
Work on the project begins in the fall and wraps up in March 2012
Public meetings on the City’s trail plans will be upcoming.
