As it stands now, there will be a race in Kincardine for the at-large councillor positions during municipal elections.
To date five have filed nomination papers for the four positions available.
Ron Coristine is a newcomer to Kincardine provincial politics having moved to the area from Oshawa.
He says government has to act as stewards of the people and ways have to be found to engage the electorate in participatory government which he would push for if elected.
Coristine says partnerships and working together are extremely important in his platform.
Meanwhile, Anne Eadie is no stranger to politics, have served on the council of Huron Kinloss.
Having moved to the Kincardine area with her husband, she feels she could contribute to the municipal government in her new home.
She says fiscal restraint is the number one issue on her plate.
Three others are running for the four at-large council seats.
They include Maureen Couture who was an unsuccessful candidate for mayor in 2006 and incumbents Ken Craig and Marsha Leggett.
In Ward 2, Township of Kincardine, incumbent Gordon Campbell has decided to let his name stand again.
He says there several issues he’d like to deal with–one of which is the power structure in the Kincardine administration.
Campbell says it should be reviewed from top to bottom and include the Kincardine Fire Department.
Campbell suggests the two fire departments aren’t working together and it’s been going on for some time.
He says he doesn’t know where the fault lies, only that it needs to be fixed.
Campbell is the only candidate declared in Kincardine Township where one representative will be elected.
