The fourth time was truly a charm for a mission hailing from Hanover into Zimbabwe.
Barry Mutrie headed an eight member team into the impoverished country back in July.
The mission was organized through the Hanover Pentecostal Church and went to the Village of Hope in Zimbabwe.
Mutrie says this trip was one of the most memorable of the four they have been on – as they accomplished many projects.
Mutrie says one of the largest accomplishments of this trip was the completion of a new playground at the Village.
He adds they all had to be very innovative as the construction materials for the playground were quite scarce.
Mutrie says two women from the mission (Donna Barfoot & Donna Duquette) taught english as a second language to many moms – as many cannot help their children with their homework.
The first aid teaching proved to be very popular with over 200 residents of the village showing up to a session taught by Mark Duffy who is trained by St John’s Ambulance.
The group was able to raise over-funding for the trip which they – in turn – donated back to the mission to purchase clothing and supplies for the children.
The monetary donation was just over 4-thousand dollars.
The most memorable moment not just for the member of the mission but for the town of Hanover was the dedication of the library at the mission of hope school.
The library has been named Hanover Community Library with a dedication ceremony taking place while the members were visiting.
Mutrie says they will return – and plan to do so next May to continue their work for the orphaned and abused children and those caring for them.
