The sea monsters are still invading Southampton — but not for much longer.
The summer exhibit at the Bruce County Museum and Cultural Centre this year features six mammoth robotic sea monsters.
Marketing and Special Events Coordinator Shannon Paiva says the reason the display is so interesting to Grey and Bruce was the area actually used to be part of the tropical sea millions of years ago – when the monsters used to live.
Paiva says the exhibit is for kids of all ages and is very interactive with a chance for kids to dress up as a sea monster and to play interactive related wii games.
The names of the monsters are huge – as big as the creatures – but Paiva assures us the history is as colourful as the monster’s scales.
Paiva also says once labour day hits – the sea monsters will be leaving the museum for good.
She does tease next years big exhibit that is already well in it’s planning stages – it is called “Gross-ology” and says kids will love it and parents will be queasy.
The museum is open daily.
