Another chance to catch busking fever in Owen Sound.
Coming off the popularity of last years event — the city is hosting it’s second annual Streets Alive Busker Festival throughout the downtown core.
Committee Co-Chair Caroline Bigley says this year’s event is only building on last year with the preview set for Friday night at 8 PM in front of city hall.
The preview runs for two hours and features some of the buskers that will be performing all day on Saturday.
Bigley says there are dancers, singers, clowns, visual artists and more performing on both Friday night and Saturday.
Bigley says the event is unique as the city does not actually pay the buskers – if you pay a performer then it is not considered busking.
The event’s costs are covered through the city of Owen Sound paying through grant money through Celebrate Ontario.
Bigley says the Saturday events start at 10 AM until 4 PM throughout the downtown core.
Bigley says as it takes about five years to build on the momentum of a new event — she sees the festival returning for years to come.
