If you are self-employed, you might want to learn more about changes to Employment Insurance benefits.
The Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce is hosting a workshop dealing with Bill C-56, or the “Fairness for the Self-Employed” Act.
A guest speaker will be brought in from Owen Sound to discuss the Act, and answer questions you might have.
Until the Act was given royal assent in December of 2009, those who were self-employed couldn’t qualify for parental leave or compassionate care benefits.
Now there is a scheme in place for the payment of special benefits in certain circumstances.
To learn more about what you qualify for and how, you can RSVP to the Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce.
It starts at 1 PM at The Sutton Park.
