The town of Saugeen Shores needs your help for a couple of initiatives.
Community Services Director Mike Myatt says Southampton’s new accessible Jubilee Park has been very well-used, but they need some help in keeping up the gardens.
Council has approved an Adopt-A-Garden program, and Myatt says they just need some volunteers.
He says you and a group can adopt as many of the gardens in the park as you’d like, and you’ll only need to spend about an hour a week to pull weeds and keep them neat.
He says you can commit just one summer, or for as long as you’d like.
In return, Myatt says they’ll put your name on the garden.
Myatt says they also need some help to choose a name for the new trail that is now complete between Port Elgin and Southampton.
The trail is a five kilometre stretch from Port Elgin’s North Shore Park to South Street in Southampton.
Myatt says they’re having a naming contest, and are currently accepting name suggestions and nominations.
He says he’s very pleased that these two new features to the Town are being very well used.
An official opening for the trail will be held Friday, August 27th.
