There has been a changing of the guard at the Children’s Aid Society of Grey County.
Phyllis Lovell has been named as the Society’s new Executive Director replacing Sydney Misener who retired from the position last week.
Lovell says as a result of a policy change at the Provincial Level the Children’s Aid Society of Grey County, along with other societies will be come more involved and connected with the community.
She also says there is a renewed focus the adoption of older children and children with very special needs and is hoping people in the community will come forward to help these children find a permanent home.
Lovell says one of the challenges the CAS faces in the rural nature of Grey County where it is difficult for families to get into the urban area where they can received help.
To that end, she says the CAS staff focus on the home delivery of service and are out visiting families in their homes to help them overcome any difficulties they may be having.
Lovell says this arrangement works better for everybody as the families are not in an office setting and are more comfortable and relaxed in their own home.
Looking forward, Lovell says the future is looking positive for the CAS as they are forecasting a balanced budget this year.
