The next time you go to the hospital, the province is hoping your wait-time will be shorter.
Ontario Health Minister Deb Mathews says 100 million dollars is going to 25 hospital E-R’s to help them track patient flow and hire nurse practitioners to treat and discharge patients quicker.
Progressive Conservative Lisa MacLeod is not impressed that the government thinks waiting 8 hours or less in an ER is a success.
According to government stats, in our area of the province all hospitals in the Southwest LHIN are treating patients in less than the 8 hour target.
Only Victoria and University hospitals in London have longer wait times, both at around 14 hours.
Among hospitals in Grey Bruce and Huron Counties…
– Seaforth is only 2.7 hours wait time
– Southampton hospital is rated 7.5 hours
– Owen Sound has a 6.1 hour wait time
Meaford hospital is rated at 4.2 hours.
The Goderich Hospital did not report wait times.
In Simcoe County, the Collingwood General and Marine hospital is over the government target of 8 hours for a patient to be helped in an ER.
It has a 9.3 hour wait time average.
Royal Victoria Hospital in Barrie is rated as 9.7 hours.
