Plans to mark the 50th anniversary of Owen Sound Little Theatre have been finalized and it is an ambitious agenda.
President Bill Murphy tells Bayshore Broadcasting News one of the big announcements today was a Hollywood legend is coming to Owen Sound this fall for one show only, on October 2nd.
Mickey Rooney will be stopping in the Scenic City with his wife Jan for a show at 2 PM that day.
Tickets for Mickey Rooney are 70 dollars and go on sale today.
The OSLT playbill will have Hello Dolly, Office Hours, Jake’s Women and MacBeth this season.
Murphy says the opening night for Hello Dolly on November 10th will be a fund-raiser for the Regional rec centre in Owen Sound. All proceeds will go directly to the centre fund raising commmittee.
Prices have not yet been set for that show.
Bill Murphy says there will also be a children’s series and a group of shows featuring professional singers and performers from across Canada.
The Children’s schows are “Splash N’ Boots”, Chris Patterson formerly of Arrogant worms, and Al Simmons.
In the musical series, OSLT will offer Sultans of String, Kevin Fox and Sharron’s Big Broadway show.
Also to mark the 50th anniversary of Little Theatre, season subscription holders can buy a second ticket for each of the shows in 2011 — at the 1961 ticket price of one dollar and fifty cents.
In May, there will be a two night gala reception and performances to celebrate the anniversary.
