A group from Grey-Bruce is continuing to make a difference in Zimbabwe.
For the fourth time, Barry Mutrie has lead a team for Mission Zimbabwe, bringing toys, medical supplies, food, and educational materials to the area.
The team arrived in the Village of Hope on July 10th.
Team Member Becky Molly says it’s been a very rewarding experience so far as the children and house moms have been so excited and receptive to them.
She says they still have some work ahead of them this week, as they are going to build a playground – – something she says the kids can’t stop smiling about.
They also continue to build orphan’s homes.
Mrs. Zowla , a social worker at the Village of Hope, says it’s indescribable the impact this has on the children of Zimbabwe.
She says it’s going to be so great to have a play area for children.
Mrs. Zowla adds the adults are benefitting by learning English.
Barry Mutrie says there were a few surprises waiting this year.
He says even though there’s much work to still be done, the country has progressed, and there is a new hope.
Mutrie says the violence and political infighting has decreased, but there is still a huge amount of unemployment.
Over the four years, Mission Zimbabwe has been able to build a school and provide medical care, clothing and education by raising a total of 120 thousand dollars.
