West Grey Deputy Mayor Dan Sullivan, wants the top job in the town.
He has filed nomination papers for the position of mayor.
Sullivan will face off against the incumbent, Kevin Eccles, who filed papers in June to run for re-election.
So far they are the only declared candidates.
Dan Sullivan says West Grey needs more accountability and openness on council.
He says his handling of the tornado disaster last summer, when Mayor Eccles was in Europe, led several residents to urge him to run for Mayor this year.
Dan Sullivan ran against former Mayor Delton Becker in the 2000 election and lost by just over 200 votes.
He has been the Deputy Mayor for four years and also has some 20 years of muncipal work experience, including Chief administrative officer in Arran Elderslie.
The municipal election is not until the fall.
