The Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen’s Association is holding a Pork and Beef BBQ fundraiser.
The proceeds of the event will go towards preserving and enhancing fish and wildlife in Grey-Bruce.
The BBQ will be held today from 4 PM to 7 PM at the Sportsmen’s clubhouse on Bruce Road 13 at North Acres Road, 1 mile west of Wiarton.
Tickets are 12 dollars for adults, 6 dollars for children under 12 and free for children under 5.
Since 1962, the Bruce Peninsula Sportsmen has been dedicated to stocking regional waters with trout and salmon for the sport fishing industry.
The 450 member group works in co-operation with Ontario’s Natural Resources Ministry and their work has pumped 16 million dollars into the regional tourism economy.
The 2009 fish stocking effort produced an estimated 40 to 60 per cent of the of rainbow trout in Colpoy’s Bay.
The sports fishery industry generates 2.5 billion dollars for Ontario’s economy.
