Some world class music this weekend in Leith.
The Leith Summer Music Festival continues today at the Leith Church.
Artistic Director of the Festival Robert Kortgaard says this concert is featuring a Canadian Singer who is well known for many different styles.
Brett Polegato is well known for his opera performances around the world.
But Kortgaard says Polegato is also very talented in folk and cabaret.
Kortgaard says he will be accompanying Polegato on piano for this concert.
Kortgaard says the Leith Church is excellent for concerts as the setting is picturesque and the acoustics are stellar.
He adds the festival is able to attract such excellent talent as the people that attend the festival appreciate the rarity of having such artists perform in an intimate setting.
The festival will continue July 31st with jazz pianist Chris Donnelly who has ties to the Owen sound area – then in August there is both a string quartet and violinist.
The concert starts at 7:30 PM and tickets are 25 dollars and are available at the Roxy theatre and the Downtown Bookstore.
Tickets can also be purchased for a seasons pass to all concerts for the summer.
If you would like to make a day out of the trip to Leith there is also an art show and sale today at the church in celebration of Tom Thomson Days.
The sale at Tom Thomson’s boyhood church features artisans, authors and antiques under a tent from 10 AM until 4 PM.
