There’s a new logo for Saugeen Shores.
The new blue and orange logo features three seagulls flying over the municipality’s name, which is underlined with two curved lines.
Councillor – and Marketing Focus Group member – Luke Charbonneau says this logo will provide Saugeen Shores with a consistent branding message.
It will replace both the current corporate logo featuring a sun over four lines of waves and the marketing logo featuring a porthole.
Charbonneau says the design of the new logo is also consistent with the new logos approved for Port Elgin and Southampton over the last two years.
They all feature similar colours, the three seagulls, and the curved lines but use them in different ways.
Charbonneau says the end result is that all three logos look similar and go together, yet each has its own identity.
Charbonneau says another improvement is the increased size of the text within the logo.
In the corporate logo featuring a sun over 4 lines of waves, the words “Saugeen Shores” took up only 7 per cent of the logo area.
The new design dedicates 46 per cent of the logo area to the text.
Charbonneau says the municipality’s name will now be more prominent when the logo is seen from far away or needs to be printed on a small scale.
Charbonneau says the new logo will be phased in to be as cost efficient as possible.
For example, when current letterhead runs out it will be reprinted with the new logo, and the same goes for business cards, t-shirts, and vehicles.
The logo was designed by Canvas Studios and will be purchased for 2 thousand dollars.
Council is expected to give final approval at their next meeting.
