Chesley District High School continues to prove they’re a small school with a big heart.
The school has just finished another successful Cougar Care Campaign.
The 300 students at Chesley District High School have raised 85 hundred dollars.
The Bruce County school has joined forces with Free The Children to use the money to build a school in Kenya.
It all started when teachers and students were introduced to From Me To We, a global movement to think about others and not just yourself.
The Cougar Care Campaign kicked off in April when Michel Chikwanine, a former child soldier in the Congo, visited the school to share his story of trauma and hope.
Students then collected pledges and held a variety of fundraisers including a Vow of Silence, a gym sleep out, a Cougar Idol event, a bake sale, a BBQ, and raffles.
Over the years the Cougar Care Campaign has raised thousands of dollars to support many causes.
They include the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation, Right To Play, Teen Farm Ranch, the Special Olympics, the Harry Bierman’s Classic, and Cops For Cancer.
