A three year old boy from Belgrave is dead after an incident with a residential wind turbine pole.
Constable Kees Wijnands says Logan Hallahan was playing with a group of children last night around a 110-foot turbine structure that was under repairs at a home west of Belgrave.
The turbine was on a 30-foot generator pole and was temporarily anchored to a cement pad by a strap, when the force of the children playing resulted in the loosening of the strap.
Wijnands says the boy was sitting on the generator pole and fell onto it, and then a second pole fell and pinned him to the ground.
Adults nearby immediately pulled him from the poles and he was transported to hospital in Wingham, and doctors prepared to transport him to Sick Children’s Hospital in London.
Wijnands says the three year old died of his injuries before being transported.
The Huron OPP continue to investigate this incident.
