The lawyer for a 63 year old sex offender says he will appeal his clients’ designation as a dangerous offender.
Timothy Wayne Veysey tied the thumbs of two boys behind their backs before molesting them in a Wiarton playground 10 years ago.
Supreme court justice Robert Thompson declared Veysey a dangerous offender at the conclusion of a hearing that began late last year.
Lawyer Wayne Lalonde says the designation means his client faces an indefinite term in prison, which could be life be behind bars.
Lalonde will appeal both the dangerous offender ruling and the sexual assault verdict against Veysey that preceded the hearing.
In March of 2008, an Owen Sound jury found Veysey guilty of sexually assaulting two teenage boys back in 2000 while threatening them with a knife.
The incident happened in the playground of the former Wiarton public school.
The defence lawyer says the judge erred when he allowed the Crown to introduce evidence from cases involving prior similar acts by his client.
Lalonde has until later this month to actually file the appeals.
