The Realtors Care Foundation Charity Motorcycle riders are winding their way through Ontario — and they received a warm welcome in Owen Sound.
The riders are raising money for the Realtors Care Foundation, to donate to various shelter initiatives across the province.
Dorothy Mason is the President of the Ontario Real Estate Association.
She notes the foundation has helped many communities in its 40 year history.
Richard Hawkins is the Realtor Governor for the foundation, and has taken part in the ride since it started in Ontario in 2007.
He says they have raised 133 thousand dollars to date.
Hawkins says the riders travel through Ontario gathering pledges, and hopes they can raise as much as last year’s total of 40 thousand dollars.
This year, Habitat for Humanity Grey Bruce received 12 thousand dollars from the Realtors Care Foundation, which will go towards the Owen Sound build.
Scotiabank is also donating 5 thousand dollars — which brings the total contribution to 17 thousand.
Catherine Lawrence, the Director of Affiliate Relations for Habitat Grey Bruce, says the donation is the largest single pledge made to the Owen Sound build.
She says it will go a long way towards helping out the community.
